MARGIE GOBLE NAMED LSC SOUTH SETTER/DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University freshman setter Margie Goble (5’8”, San Antonio, TX/Holmes H.S.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Setter/Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season. Goble earned the most recent award for her efforts in ENMU’s matches during the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1. She helped ENMU earn a 2-0 record during the week, defeating Tarleton State University, 3-2, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville, 3-0.

ENMU downed Tarleton State, 10-15, 15-8, 10-15, 15-6, 15-13. The Zias defeated TAMU-Kingsville, 15-11, 15-10, 15-12. The Zias improved to 17-4 overall and to 3-1 in the LSC South.

Goble recorded 90 assists during the week, an average of 11.3 assists per game. She also earned 25 digs (3.1 avg.), 8 kills (1.0 avg.), 7 service aces (0.9 avg.) and 2 block assists (0.3 avg.). In ENMU’s five-game victory over Tarleton State, she achieved 47 assists, 11 digs and 6 service aces. Against TAMUK, she provided 43 assists and 14 digs.

Eastern New Mexico hosts West Texas A&M University, ranked #4 in NCAA Division II, in an LSC South match on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. (MDT). The Zias then travel to Abilene, Texas for the year’s second LSC Crossover Tournament.

ENMU will play Cameron University on Friday, Oct. 6 at 12:00 p.m. (MDT), then take on Texas Woman’s University later Friday at 5:00 p.m. (MDT). The Zias will conclude the tournament against Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10:00 a.m. (MDT).
