SWEEPS CENTRAL OKLAOMA AT LADY BUFF SW REGION CHALLENGE ENMU registered 51 kills and a .189 hitting percentage, compared to 38 kills and a .090 hitting percentage for Central Oklahoma. Only two players — both from ENMU — hit over .190 with at least 20 total attacks in the match. They were Tanya Heyko (Sr., OH, Salem, OR/Chemeketa C.C.), with a .349 attack percentage, and Christabell Mariner (So., MB, Pago Pago, Amer. Samoa/Tafuna H.S.), with a .200 percentage. Jessica Rowley (Jr., OH, Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.) connected for 16 kills to lead the Zias on offense. Rowley also recorded 5 digs and 2 service aces. Mariner achieved 14 kills, 10 digs and 6 block assists, while Heyko produced 10 kills and 15 digs. Margie Goble (Fr., Setter, San Antonio, TX/Holmes H.S.) and Jenny Gledhill (Jr., RS, West Jordan, UT/ Sheridan J.C.) each recorded 8 digs. Dee Goble (Jr., MB, San Antonio, TX), playing against her former teammates, recorded a .500 hitting percentage with 6 kills and 1 error on 10 total attacks. Goble also achieved a block solo and 4 block assists. Goble played at UCO in 1997 and 1998. She transferred to ENMU last year, but did not play volleyball for the seasons during the 1999 season. Central Oklahoma was led by Alma Brahimaj, who led all players with 20 kills. She also supplied the Lady Bronchos with 8 digs. Other top players for UCO were Lexy Fortner, with 6 kills and 16 digs, and Stacey Meek, with 33 assists and 10 digs. ENMU will return to Canyon, Texas, on Tuesday (Oct. 24) to take on West Texas A&M in a Lone Star Conference South Division match. The match is scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m. (MDT). WTAMU, ranked #4 in NCAA Division II with a 28-1 overall record, leads the LSC South at 7-0. ENMU is 4-3 in conference play. |
