OPEN LSC CROSSOVER TOURNAMENT WITH WIN OVER SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA As they have done several times this season, the Zias easily won the first game of the match. ENMU recorded 14 kills and just 5 attacking errors on its way to the 8-point triumph. The Zias did not hit as well over the final two games, and finished the match with a .168 team hitting percentage. The Zias, however, limited SE Oklahoma to a .127 hitting percentage to record the sweep. Top hitters for the Zias were outside hitters Tanya Heyko (Sr., Salem, OR/Chemeketa C.C.) and Jessica Rowley (Jr., Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.), both with 12 kills. Heyko recorded a .276 hitting percentage during the match, while Jessica was credited with a .258 hitting percentage. Heyko and Rowley also provided 11 digs apiece. Christabell Mariner (So., MB, Pago Pago, Amer. Samoa/Tafuna H.S.) added 9 kills and 5 digs, while freshman middle blocker Amber Barber (San Antonio, TX/Winston Churchill H.S.) contributed a team-high 16 digs. Freshman setter Margie Goble (San Antonio, TX/ Holmes H.S.) supplied the Zias with 32 assists and 11 digs. The Lady Savages were led by Josalyn Samson with 10 kills. Andrea Ramsay earned 7 kills and 13 digs. Stephanie Lewellen was credited with 24 assists and 9 digs, while Amy Bilderback produced 11 digs. ENMU, from the LSC South Division, plays two more crossover games against LSC North Division opponents on Saturday, Sept. 23 at TWU. The Zias are scheduled to take on the University of Central Oklahoma at 11:00 a.m. (MDT) then play Midwestern State University at 3:00 p.m. (MDT). |
