ENMU Athletic Director Accepts NCAA Position
Article from ENMU University Relations
PORTALES, NM — Dr. Everett Frost, president of Eastern New Mexico University, has announced that Athletic Director Rosie Stallman has accepted a position with the National Collegiate Athletic Association as Director of Outreach Education. Her last day at Eastern will be June 8.

“During her four years as director, the Department of Athletics at Eastern has achieved some wonderful accomplishments. Our corporate sponsorship of athletics has increased dramatically during Rosie’s tenure. This has greatly improved the visibility and economic stability of our athletic programs.

“We have also had the most numerous and innovative promotions of athletic events. This has increased the enthusiasm and attendance at varsity games.

“We have also been extremely competitive in varsity sports, including several Lone Star Conference division championships. In addition, several of our coaches have been named LSC South Division Coach of the Year.

“Rosie has always emphasized the importance of academics for our student/athletes. We are very proud of the academic accomplishments of our athletes. They have consistently excelled in the classroom, earning numerous Academic All-Conference honors as well as qualifying for the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. We have also had several athletes named to Academic All-District and All-America teams.

“We hate to lose an athletic director of Rosie’s caliber, but we are proud that the NCAA is impressed with her abilities and is adding her to their national staff. It will be hard to replace her. We wish her the best.”

At the NCAA, Ms. Stallman will oversee several outreach programs relating to student welfare, gender equity, student leadership and life skills. She will also coordinate the NCAA Woman of the Year program which honors top student/athletes.

“I am excited about the opportunity to maintain and develop outreach programs for the NCAA at the national level,” Ms. Stallman said. “As a former coach and administrator, I look forward to participating in projects that will benefit student/athletes. I am also excited about making an impact on the future direction of gender equity issues, which affect everyone in intercollegiate athletics.”

Ms. Stallman said that “it will be difficult to leave my many friends at Eastern New Mexico University. I was given a great opportunity here, and I have enjoyed working with so many caring administrators, faculty members and staff. I’ll also miss my many friends from the Portales and Clovis communities who have been so positive I know the athletic department will continue to bring success to the Greyhounds and the Zias.”

President Frost announced that he will soon name an interim Athletic Director.
