RANDY JOHNSON SIGNS LETTER-OF-INTENT TO PLAY BASKETBALL AT EASTERN NEW MEXICO
Randy JohnsonPORTALES, NM — Randy Johnson, a 6’2” 180-pound transfer guard from McLennan Community College, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play men’s basketball at Eastern New Mexico University. Johnson is the first player signed this spring by ENMU Head Coach Shawn Scanlan.

Johnson, from Italy, Texas, averaged 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists per game this past season as a sophomore at McLennan. He shot 49% for the Highlanders from the field, including 44% from 3-point range. Johnson previously played basketball at Italy High School, where he averaged 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists as a senior. He will be a shooting guard for the Greyhounds at Eastern New Mexico.

“Randy is an athletic guard who can shoot with range,” Scanlan said. “He improved throughout the 2000-01 season, and over the final four games averaged 16 points per game. Randy was also a very good football player in high school, and I appreciate the qualities that can result from that experience. We are excited about his addition to our team."
