GABE DeHOYOS NAMED LSC SOUTH
PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK
Gabe DeHoyosPORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University junior right-handed pitcher Gabe DeHoyos (Artesia, NM/Trinidad J.C.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending April 1.

It was the second time DeHoyos has been chosen LSC South Pitcher-of-the-Week this season. He also received the honor on March 5. DeHoyos threw a complete-game 3-hitter against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, March 31, leading ENMU to a 3-0 victory over the Javelinas. He struck out 8 batters and gave up 2 walks. All three TAMU-Kingsville hits were singles.

DeHoyos is 4-4 on the season, and has earned 1 save. He leads the Greyhounds with a 3.50 earned run average, and has struck out 48 batters in 46 1/3 innings pitched. The shutout against TAMUK was his second shutout of the season.

Texas A&M-Kingsville won the first two games of the three-game series with ENMU. The Javelinas won the series opener 7-6 on March 30, then edged the Greyhounds 3-2 in the first game of a double-header on March 31.

ENMU’s win behind DeHoyos in the second game of the double-header improved Eastern to 14-22 overall and to 7-11 in the LSC South. ENMU has lost 13 games by one run or in extra innings this season.
