DROPS MATCHES TO ST. EDWARDS, WESTERN STATE AT LADY BUFF CLASSIC St. Edwards was led by Leticia Campos, who recorded 11 kills and a .360 hitting percentage. She also earned 9 digs and provided 2 service aces. Brittney Creek added 6 kills, 8 digs and 4 service aces, while Erika Figuereido contributed 8 kills, 6 digs and 3 block assists. The Hilltoppers totaled 40 kills, to go with 43 digs and 11 service aces. St. Edwards limited ENMU to 29 kills, 41 digs and just 2 aces. For the Zias, Jessica Rowley (Sr., OH, Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.) registered 8 kills and a team-high 11 digs. Courtney Wallenborn (Jr., RS, Camas, WA/Mount Hood C.C.) supplied 7 kills and 4 digs. Lisa Flohr (Jr., S, Benton City, WA/Mt. Hood C.C.) provided 12 assists in her first significant action since transferring to ENMU this fall. She also earned 5 digs. Nikki Tilton (Sr., S, Milwaukee, OR/Alabama A&M) added 10 assists and 7 digs. Against Western State, which won the tournament with a 4-0 record, the Zias played an excellent first game, but fell 30-28. ENMU recorded 17 kills and a .244 hitting percentage in the opening game, but fell to 11 kills in the second game and to 8 kills in the third game. The Zias’ top performer was Wallenborn, who produced 9 kills and 2 service aces. Jamie Wise (Fr., MB, Abilene, TX/Abilene H.S.) earned 7 kills and 8 digs, while Raina Pilon (Jr., MB, Eagan, MN/Pasco-Hernando C.C.) supplied 6 kills, a team-high 10 digs and 4 total blocks. Western State, which completed the three-game sweep with a 30-24 victory in the second game and a 30-16 win in the third game, was led by Joni Harmon with 11 kills and a .400 hitting percentage for the match. Andrea Raymond recorded 10 kills and 6 block assists, and Sarah McKinley added 9 kills. Tara Miller dished out 32 assists to go with 3 service aces. Eastern New Mexico returns to action on Tuesday, Aug. 28, when the Zias play at Lubbock Christian University. Match time in Lubbock, Texas is set for 6:00 p.m. MST. The Zias will then play at the Fort Lewis College Skyhawk Invitational on Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1. |
