TEXICO HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS
SIGN WITH ENMU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM
PORTALES, NM — Head Coach Wayne Moore of the Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team has announced the signing of two student-athletes from Texico High School in Texico, N.M., to National Letters-of-Intent. Elizabeth Richards, a 5’11” forward, and Jennifer Roberts, a 5’7” guard, signed with ENMU during the early signing period in November. They will join the Zias as freshmen for the 2002-03 season.

Eastern New Mexico University competes in NCAA Division II and is a member of the Lone Star Conference. The Zias won the LSC regular season title in 1992-93. Moore has earned a 310-241 (.563) record, including 16 seasons at .500 or better. He is in his 22nd year as the head coach at ENMU.

Jennifer Roberts
Senior, Guard, 5’7", Texico, NM (Texico High School)
Roberts will be a freshman during the 2002-03 season.

Richards and Roberts helped Texico win back-to-back New Mexico Class 2A State titles in basketball in 1999-00 and 2000-01. They also played on Texico’s State Runner-up team in 1998-99.

In addition to making major contributions to the Texico basketball team, both players have played volleyball and competed in track and field in high school. Their efforts on the THS volleyball team helped Texico win the Class 2A State Championship this fall, after earning a 3rd place finish at the State Tournament in 2000. Roberts has been named All-State twice in volleyball and basketball. Richards also has earned All-State recognition in both sports.

Richards and Roberts have also excelled during the track and field season. Richards won a State title and set a State Record in the high jump this past spring. Roberts contributed to Texico’s mile relay team, which won the State championship when she was an 8th grader.

Both players have been excellent students. They are members of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Bible Club.
