ANDY HOSTETLER NAMED
LSC SOUTH HITTER-OF-THE-WEEK
Andy HostetlerPORTALES, NMEastern New Mexico University junior outfielder Andy Hostetler (Albuquerque, NM/Valley H.S.) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Hitter-of-the-Week for the week ending February 18.

Hostetler helped the Greyhounds win two of three games in an LSC weekend series with Tarleton State University. Hostetler was the top offensive threat for ENMU in its 5-4 win over Tarleton State on Friday, Feb. 16. He was 2 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBIs, accounting for over half of Eastern’s runs. The victory allowed the Hounds to split a double-header, after losing the first game, 5-0.

Hostetler added another hit in Eastern’s 5-4 win over TSU on Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Hounds won the weekend conference series. For the week, he was 5 of 14 with 6 RBIs and a .357 batting average.

ENMU was 2-3 during the week, including a pair of one-run losses on the second day of the Broken Bat Tournament, Monday, Feb. 12, in Lubbock, Texas. The Greyhounds lost to Lubbock Christian University, 2-1, and to Wayland Baptist University, 4-2 in 8 innings, to finish 2-2 in the event, which began on Saturday, Feb. 10. Hostetler drove in all 3 of ENMU’s runs in the losses to LCU and WBU.

The Greyhounds concluded the week with a 5-6 overall record, including 2-1 in the LSC South. Hostetler owned a .297 batting average with 11 hits and 9 RBIs in 11 games.
