SARAH REMPP NAMED
LSC SOUTH HITTER-OF-THE-WEEK
Sarah RemppPORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University senior catcher and shortstop Sarah Rempp (Marshalltown, IA/Greeley Central H.S., CO) has been selected Lone Star Conference South Division Hitter-of-the-Week for the week ending February 25. Rempp helped ENMU earn a 4-1 record during the week to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Rempp led the Zias with a .563 batting average for the week. She was 9 of 16 at the plate, with 5 runs and 2 RBIs. She was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs in the championship game of the 2nd Annual Zia Classic, as host ENMU edged Western New Mexico University, 7-6, in eight innings. She played solid defense at catcher against WNMU , and blocked several errant pitches with a runner at third base in the top of the eighth inning.

Rempp leads the Zias with a .455 batting average for the season. She also leads the Zias with 10 hits and is tied for first with 5 runs scored. The Zias opened last week by sweeping a double-header from Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Tuesday, Feb. 20. ENMU edged the Lady Aggies, 2-1, then claimed the second game, 6-3.

Eastern’s other games were in the Zia Classic. The Zias lost to Western New Mexico, 4-2, and defeated Southern Nazarene, 11-1, in preliminary round games. ENMU also defeated El Paso C.C., 14-3, in round robin play and 12-4 in the semifinals, to earn a rematch with WNMU in the title game.

ENMU’s games against EPCC are not included in the Zias’ record or statistics because the NCAA does not count games against junior colleges.
