SE OKLAHOMA DOWNS ENMU, 79-66
DURANT, OK — Rickey Young led all scorers with 21 points, leading Southeastern Oklahoma State University to a 79-66 victory over Eastern New Mexico University, in a Lone Star Conference crossover game, Jan. 11 at Bloomer Sullivan Gym. The Savages improved to 9-3 overall, while ENMU dropped to 3-10 on the season. Crossover games do not count in the LSC divisional standings.

SOSU led just 38-34 at the half. Anthony Wilson, who scored 19 points for the Savages, recorded 11 first-half points. Young added 10 points during the first 20 minutes.

ENMU shot 56.5% (13 of 23) in the opening half, with Brenton Robinson (Jr., F/C, Tucson, AZ/ Central Arizona) scoring 11 points. The Savages gradually pulled away over the final 20 minutes. ENMU was within four points, 42-38, with 17:10 remaining, but Southeastern Oklahoma went on a 8-2 run for a 50-40 lead at the 14:15 mark. SOSU extended its advantage to 65-51 with 8:16 left, and led by as many as 18 points before the Greyhounds ended the game with 7-2 run.

Young and Walton led four Savages in double figures. Jide Obinegbo produced 15 points and 9 boards for SOSU, while Terrell Towns added 10 points. Southeastern Oklahoma earned a 32-26 rebounding edge, including 22-12 in the second half.

Robinson, who scored 13 points and grabbed 7 boards, was one of four players in double figures for ENMU. He was 6 of 12 from the field before fouling out with 7:04 remaining. Kevin Iverson (Jr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin C.C.) led the Greyhounds with 14 points on 3 of 5 field goals and 8 of 13 free throws. Brandon Ridenour (Sr., G, Lovington, NM/New Mexico J.C.) scored 13 points, and was 3 of 8 on three-pointers. Garland Coleman (Fr., G/F, Chicago, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor H.S.) contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Southeastern Oklahoma gained an edge at the line, where the Savages converted 22 of 29 charity shots and Eastern New Mexico made 15 of 24 free throws. The Savages also sank 7 of 20 three-pointers, while ENMU connected on 3 of 9 three-point shots.

Field goal shooting for the game was nearly even. The Greyhounds sank 24 of 50 shots (48.0%) and the Savages made 25 of 50 shots (50.0%).

Eastern New Mexico will play four more road games before completing its five-game road trip. The Greyhounds will travel to East Central University on Saturday, Jan. 13 for the second game of the road swing. Tipoff in Ada, Okla., is slated for 7:00 p.m. (MST).
