RAMBELLES SHOOT 58.2% IN WIN OVER ZIAS
SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University placed five players in double figures and shot 58.2% from the floor, as the Rambelles defeated Eastern New Mexico University, 91-61, in a Lone Star Conference game, Jan. 20 in San Angelo, Texas.

ASU, now 6-0 at home, upped its overall record to 10-4, while improving to 2-0 in the LSC South. Eastern New Mexico fell to 5-8 on the season, including 1-1 in the LSC South.

Angelo State built a 45-30 halftime lead, and remained comfortably in front throughout the second half. The Rambelles were paced by Kylie Nabors with 15 points. Kami Williamson and Marloes Roetgerink each contributed 12 points, while Kelli Anne Goble and Kerry Hocker scored 10 points apiece. Crystal Whalon and Keely Kolar each added 9 points.

The Rambelles sank 32 of 55 field goals during the game, including 10 of 20 three-pointers. Six different players scored at least one 3-pointer for ASU. The Rambelles also achieved a 38-24 rebounding edge, led by Esponosha Gilliam with 9 boards. Roetgerink added 8 rebounds, and Kolar grabbed 6 boards. Nabors provided 7 assists.

Senior guard Jody Avent (Stinnett, TX/South Plains College) led ENMU with 18 points. She converted 6 of 10 field goals, and was 6 of 7 at the line. Katheryne Hickman (Sr., F, San Antonio, TX/Castle Hills Baptist H.S.) hit the nets for 17 points. Sharon Max (Sr., G/F, Fruitland, NM/Kirtland Central H.S.) scored 9 points, provided 5 assists and led the Zias with 3 three-pointers. Lisa Rollins (Sr., Post, Fort Worth, TX/ Weatherford College) scored 6 points (3 of 6 FGs). She also supplied 7 boards and 2 assists.

ENMU converted just 5 of 20 three-point shots, but the Zias sank 12 of 15 free throws. Angelo State also shot well at the line, sinking 17 of 24 free throw attempts.

The Zias will conclude their 5-game road trip on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at West Texas A&M University. ENMU and the Lady Buffs will begin the LSC South contest at 5:00 p.m. (MST).
