UCO BRONCHOS DEFEAT GREYHOUNDS, 101-76
Kevin Iverson Scores 26 for ENMU
PORTALES, NM — The University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos used their run-and-gun offense to place seven players in double figures, Jan. 4 at Greyhound Arena, as the Bronchos defeated Eastern New Mexico University, 101-76, in a Lone Star Conference crossover game. UCO upped its record to 5-3, while ENMU slipped to 3-8. Crossover games do not count in the LSC divisional standings.

ENMU bolted out to a 7-0 lead on layups by Rudy Charles (Fr., G, Las Vegas, NV/Durango H.S.) and Kevin Iverson (Jr., F, Chicago, IL/Elgin C.C.), plus a 3-point basket from Brandon Ridenour (Sr., G, Lovington, NM/New Mexico J.C.).

UCO countered with a 10-4 run that cut Eastern’s lead to 11-10 with 15:32 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds led 17-10 just over a minute later, but Central Oklahoma eventually tied the game, 19-19, on a 3-pointer by Brian Rowland with 12:11 left before intermission.

The Bronchos moved in front for good, 22-19, when Patrick Nee added another 3-pointer at the 11:52 mark. UCO carried a 52-40 advantage into the break, and held a comfortable lead throughout the second half.

The Bronchos, who frequently substituted all five players at one time, were led by J.J. Talley, with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Lennox McCoy provided 15 points, while Dexter Tennell added 12 points, 5 boards and 3 assists. Markin Dawson added 11 points, and three players — Jason Pritchett, Dantrail Coleman and Andre Earl — each contributed 10 points.

Iverson was ENMU’s top scorer, with a game-high 26 points on 10 of 15 field goals and 6 of 6 at the charity stripe. Iverson grabbed 6 rebounds, provided 2 assists and recorded 2 steals. Iverson was joined in double figures by Brenton Robinson (Jr., F/C, Tucson, AZ/Central Arizona), who scored 14 points and led all players with 9 rebounds. Ridenour added 6 assists for the Greyhounds.

Melvin Steward (So., F, Seattle, WA/Grand Canyon University) played 14 minutes in his first game with the Hounds. He did not score, but grabbed 5 rebounds and earned 1 steal.

ENMU continues LSC crossover play on Saturday, Jan. 6, when the Greyhounds host Northeastern State University. Tipoff at Greyhound Arena is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. (MST).
