McKINNEY RECEIVES AWARD FOR 2000 ENMU FOOTBALL GAME PROGRAMS
PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University sports information director Robert McKinney was recently honored for his efforts in creating the 2000 ENMU football game programs.

The programs, which were designed, edited and primarily written by McKinney, took third in the nation in the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) publications contest for Football Game Programs/Division B. Results of the publications contest were announced at the CoSIDA Workshop in San Diego, Calif., July 1-4.

The ENMU football programs, with “Running To The Top” as a theme, were rated behind programs from Missouri Southern State College and Washburn University in the Division B contest. Division B included programs at NCAA Division II and NAIA Division I colleges and universities.

Overall, 555 awards were presented to sports information directors and their assistants at 133 universities and conference offices in the 74 categories of the publications contest. A total of 357 awards were presented for top placings at the national level, while 198 awards were distributed for rankings at the district level.The Football Game Programs/Division B contest was a small part of the overall publications contest.

McKinney, who has worked in sports information since his years as an undergraduate at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. (1980-84), has received a total of 14 publication awards at five different colleges and universities. His awards include two publications and one cover ranked first in the nation. The award he recently received from CoSIDA was his first since joining the ENMU Athletic Department staff for the 1998-99 academic year.
