CHIBVONGODZE SIGNS LETTER-OF-INTENT TO RUN FOR ENMU CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
Laurence Chibvongodze PORTALES, NM — Laurence Chibvongodze, from Harare, Zimbabwe, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to run for the Eastern New Mexico University men’s cross country team. Chibvongodze will join ENMU Head Coach April Tisby and the Greyhounds as a freshman during the 2001 cross country season.

Chibvongodze, 6’0” 165 pounds, has posted personal best times of 24:49 in the 8K, 14:50 in the 5K, and 30:15 in the 10,000 meters. He has also registered a time of 3:55 in a 1500-meter race. Chibvongodze was also selected for the Zimbabwe Under-20 National Team.

“Laurence is coming to our program as a consistently strong runner with a hard work ethic,” Tisby said. “His competitive cross country times will make him a powerhouse to be reckoned with in the Lone Star Conference.”

Eastern New Mexico revived its men’s cross country team during the 1996-97 academic year. The Greyhounds compete in NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference, which has teams in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma.
