JASON MACKEY SIGNS LETTER-OF-INTENT
TO RUN FOR ENMU CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
PORTALES, NM — Jason Mackey from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, New Mexico, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to run for the Eastern New Mexico University men’s cross country team. Mackey will join ENMU Head Coach April Tisby and the Greyhounds for the 2001 cross country season.

Mackey, 6’5” 162 pounds, was named Second Team All-District in for the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He received the Fighting Eagles Award both years. He was a 3-year letterman in cross country and track and field at Hobbs H.S. His top time in a 5-kilometer cross country race was 16:48 during his senior season.

Also an excellent student, Mackey was an Honor Graduate at Hobbs this spring. He qualified for the Honor Roll all four years, and was a member of the National Honor Society. “Jason’s positive attitude is contagious. That attitude, coupled with his athletic talent and his will to win, can only benefit the Greyhound cross country program,” Tisby said.

Eastern New Mexico revived its men’s cross country team during the 1996-97 academic year. The Greyhounds compete in NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference, which has teams in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma.
