ENMU teammate Brandi Bates (Sr., G/F, 5’8”, Plainview, TX/Plainview H.S.) was an All-LSC South Honorable Mention selection.

Hickman was joined on the All-LSC South First Team by Brandi Green (Sr., C) from West Texas A&M, Patricia Lewandowski (Sr., F) and Precious Thibodeaux (Sr., F) of Texas A&M- Kingsville, and Melanie Carter (Fr., C) of Abilene Christian. An additional five players received Second Team recognition and 15 players were included on the Honorable Mention list.

After averaging 20.3 points in LSC South games this season, Hickman was a strong candidate for the All-LSC South team. She concluded her career with 1,234 points overall, giving her 5th place on Eastern New Mexico’s all-time scoring list. She scored 439 points this season (17.6 average) and led the Zias with 166 rebounds, an average of 6.6 boards per game. Bates, who battled injuries to average to 7.3 points per game during the season, finished her ENMU career with 753 points. She ranks 18th all-time at ENMU in individual scoring. Bates grabbed 106 rebounds (4.4 rebs. per game) during the season to finish second behind Hickman. She also earned 42 assists, 19 steals and 12 blocked shots in 24 games.

The Zias were 8-17 overall and 4-10 in the LSC South. They played the entire season without injured senior post player Bobbie Wallin, and lost freshman post player Tia Doss (5’10”, Albuquerque, NM/Highlands H.S.) to an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December. Junior guard Missy (Frazier) Klafka (5’8”, Levelland, TX/South Plains College) never fully recovered from her ACL injury from a year ago, and played in just 6 games for a total of 59 minutes.

Head Coach Wayne Moore, who has coached the Zias for 21 seasons, owns a career record of 310-241 (.563). Hickman and Bates were two of eight seniors on the 2000-01 team.
