ANDY HOSTETLER NAMED FIRST TEAM
VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR
HossPORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University outfielder Andy Hostetler (Jr., Albuquerque, NM/Valley H.S.) has been named First Team Verizon Academic All-District VI as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Overall, a total of 11 players were named to the All-District VI First Team. It was the second consecutive season Hostetler was named Academic All-District VI.

CoSIDA District VI includes colleges and universities in New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Players nominated for the Verizon Academic All-District Team were starters or key reserves with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher (4.0 scale). Each player had to be at his current college or university for at least one full year.

Hostetler has achieved a 3.593 cumulative grade point average at Eastern New Mexico, while majoring in Mathematics. He was chosen First Team All-LSC South in 1999 and was a Second Team All-LSC South selection this year. He was voted to the LSC South All-Academic Team during the 2000 and 2001 seasons.

Hostetler ranked fourth on the 2001 squad with a .341 batting average. He was second on the team with 44 runs scored, and placed fourth with 33 RBIs. He hit 7 doubles, 4 triples and 2 home runs, and was 16 of 20 on stolen bases. He saw action in 52 of ENMU’s 53 games. He hit .391 during the 2000 season, when he played in all 47 games and led the Hounds with 68 hits, 174 at bats, and 14 doubles. He also topped the Greyhounds with 14 stolen bases on 19 attempts.

In three years at ENMU, Hostetler has earned a .346 career batting average, with 93 runs scored and 73 RBIs. He has pounded out 23 doubles, 10 triples and 4 home runs. He has played in 131 games, and is 36 of 46 on career stolen bases attempts. He owns a .945 career fielding percentage, with 193 putouts, 12 assists and 12 errors.

ENMU finished the 2001 season with a 25-28 overall record, including 10-14 in the LSC South (4th place). The Greyhounds lost 13 games decided by one run or in extra innings. Head Coach Phil Clabaugh upped his career victory total to 340 wins in 14 seasons, including 244 wins in 10 seasons at ENMU.
