IRSHAUN PINCKNEY SIGNS LETTER-OF-INTENT TO PLAY BASKETBALL AT EASTERN NEW MEXICO
PORTALES, NM — Irshaun Pinckney, a 6’2” 210-pound forward/center from Clovis High School in Clovis, New Mexico, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play men’s basketball at Eastern New Mexico University. Pinckney, who will play guard at ENMU, will join Head Coach Shawn Scanlan and the Greyhounds for the 2001-02 season.

Pinckney was named First Team All-State by both The Albuquerque Journal and the Associated Press this past season. He averaged 19.7 points per game and 11 rebounds per game to help Clovis H.S. earn a 20-8 overall record.

The Wildcats finished second at the Class 5A State Tournament. He also shot 76% from the free throw line and connected on 58.1% of his field goal attempts. He was named First Team All-District for his athletic talent, and was also named First Team Academic All-District.

“Irshaun’s intangible qualities may be as impressive as his physical one’s, and as important to us,” Scanlan said. “He is a very driven student-athlete, who brings a high level of competitive spirit to the floor at all times. He can shoot with range and comes to us with a background of winning, having been an instrumental part of his team’s advancement to the New Mexico 5A State Championship game this year.”

Pinckney, a three-year starter at Clovis H.S., was a New Mexico High School Coaches Association All-Star. He also earned MVP honors at the Golden Spread All-Star Game.
