Pilon and Rowley on 2nd Team; Wallenborn is Honorable Mention
PORTALES, NM Junior middle blocker Christabell Mariner (Pago Pago, American Samoa/Tafuna H.S.), who broke the Eastern New Mexico University record for kills in one season, has been named First Team All-Lone Star Conference South Division for the second year in a row, as selected by the LSC South head coaches.

Mariner was one of just seven players named to the First Team. Overall, ENMU placed four players on the All-Conference squad.

Raina Pilon (Jr., MB, Eagan, MN/Pasco-Hernando C.C.) and Jessica Rowley (Sr., OH, Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.) were both named Second Team All-LSC South.

Courtney Wallenborn (Jr., RS, Camas, WA/Mt. Hood C.C.) was chosen Honorable Mention All-LSC South. Mariner set an ENMU record with 575 kills, breaking her own single season record of 567, set last season.

This fall, Mariner averaged 4.8 kills per game, and led the Zias with a .304 hitting percentage. She also earned 334 digs (2.8 avg.), 146 total blocks (1.2 avg.), 32 service aces (0.3 avg.) and 30 assists (0.3 avg.). Mariner was chosen LSC South Hitter-of-the-Week twice during the season, on Sept. 10 and Oct. 29.

She was also selected to the Southwest Regional Challenge All-Tournament Team and to the LSC All-Tournament Team. She helped the Zias reach the championship match of the LSC Tournament before losing West Texas A&M University, ranked #1 in NCAA Division II.

On Sept. 3, Mariner earned a triple-double against Adams State College. She registered 25 kills, 19 digs and 10 total blocks during the match. For the season, she had 13 double-doubles in kills and digs. She recorded at least 10 kills in 31 of 33 matches. Against the LSC South, she pounded out 5.1 kills per game with a .356 hitting percentage.

Pilon finished the season with 327 kills (2.6 avg.) and 326 digs (2.6 avg.). She trailed only Mariner in total blocks, with 21 block solos and 94 block assists (115 total, 0.9 avg.). She also provided 24 service aces (0.2 avg.). Pilon hit .271 in Lone Star Conference South Division action.
