SWEEP TARLETON STATE, 30-23, 30-28, 30-27 Senior outside hitter Jessica Rowley (Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.) and junior middle blocker Christabell Mariner (Pago Pago, Amer. Samoa/Tafuna H.S.) spearheaded the ENMU attack with 11 kills apiece. Rowley achieved a .357 hitting percentage with just 1 error on 28 attacks. She also earned 7 digs and supplied 1 service ace. Mariner hit .269, with 9 digs, 5 block solos and 2 block assists. Courtney Wallenborn (Jr., RS, Camas, WA/Mt. Hood C.C.) and Raina Pilon (Jr., MB, Eagan, MN/Pasco-Hernando C.C.) each added 9 kills, while Shannyn De Arman (Jr., MB/OH, Chandler, AZ/Glendale C.C.) contributed 8 kills to the Zias’ balanced offense. Wallenborn recorded a .364 hitting percentage, while earning 5 digs, 4 blocks and 6 assists. Pilon supplied 8 digs and 3 blocks for the Zias. Setter Margie Goble (San Antonio, TX/Holmes H.S.) ran the ENMU offense and registered 33 assists. She also tied Mariner for the team lead with 9 digs. For the TexAnns, Mendi Matus provided 14 kills, hit .571 and earned 3 block assists. Shelly Billstein accounted for 9 kills and 5 block assists, while Sheniqua Browder supplied 7 kills, 12 digs and 3 service aces. Lacey Adkisson also recorded 12 digs, to go with 6 kills, 3 aces and 4 block assists. ENMU closes out the regular season next week with three matches. The Zias play Wayland Baptist University on Tuesday, Oct. 30 in Plainview, Texas, at 6:00 p.m. (MST). Eastern then returns home for Lone Star Conference South Division matches against Angelo State University, on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7:00 p.m. (MST), and against Abilene Christian University on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11:00 a.m. (MST). The Zias must win at least one match to qualify for the LSC Tournament, Nov. 8-10 at the home arena of the LSC South champion. |
