LOSES TO UC-COLORADO SPRINGS AND SOUTHERN COLORADO UC-Colorado Springs defeated Western New Mexico later on Aug. 31 to improve to 6-0, while Southern Colorado finished the day with a 3-3 record. UCCS received 18 kills and a .500 hitting percentage from Audrey Nelson against ENMU. Rachelle Vandermost added 14 kills and 6 digs against the Zias, while Crystal Sagapolu provided 10 kills and 4 block assists. Stephanie Shalosky supplied 44 assists and 5 digs. Christabell Mariner (Jr., OH, Pago Pago, Amer. Samoa/Tafuna H.S.) pounded out 12 kills, a .409 hitting percentage and 8 digs for ENMU versus Colorado Springs. Jessica Rowley (Sr., OH, Dallas, OR/Clackamas C.C.) achieved 8 kills and 7 digs, while sophomore setter Margie Goble (San Antonio, TX Holmes H.S.) contributed 35 assists and 8 digs. Goble also recorded 5 kills and no attacking errors on 9 total attacks for a .556 hitting percentage. The Zias also benefited from 7 kills and 10 digs by Courtney Wallenborn (Jr., RS, Camas, WA/Mount Hood C.C.). Raina Pilon (Jr., MB, Eagan, MN/Pasco-Hernando C.C.) earned 7 kills, 5 digs and 4 total blocks. Against Southern Colorado, the Zias were led by Mariner, who registered 10 kills, 8 digs and 5 total blocks. Wallenborn provided 8 kills and 4 digs. Goble supplied 23 assists, Rowley earned 17 digs and Jamie Wise (Fr., MB, Abilene, TX/Abilene H.S.) achieved 12 digs. Pilon was credited with 5 kills and 7 digs. The Thunderwolves forced ENMU into 31 attacking errors and limited the Zias to a .009 hitting percentage. On offense, Southern Colorado was led by Sara Lusk, with 11 kills and a .421 hitting percentage, and by Amy Brockman with 10 kills and 4 block assists. Kellie Criss and 9 kills and 8 kills, while setter Renee Magalong earned 31 assists and 8 digs. ENMU concludes the Skyhawk Invitational with matches on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Fort Lewis (11:00 a.m. MST) and Adams State (3:00 p.m.) The Zias then play two matches at New Mexico Highlands on Monday, Sept. 3, with Eastern playing Adams State again at 11:00 a.m. MST, then taking on NMHU at 4:00 p.m. MST. |
