MARGIE GOBLE NAMED LSC SOUTH SETTER/DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK FOR SECOND TIME THIS SEASON
HossPORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore setter Margie Goble (San Antonio, TX/Holmes H.S.), has been selected Lone Star Conference South Division Setter/Defensive Player-of-the-Week for her efforts in three matches during the week of Sept. 17-23, 2001.

Goble helped Eastern New Mexico win all three matches, while extending its current winning streak to nine consecutive matches. The Zias are now 9-7 overall and 2-0 in the LSC South.

Eastern defeated non-conference opponent Lubbock Christian to start the week, then opened LSC South action with victories over Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville. ENMU defeated Lubbock Christian in four games, 30-28, 20-30, 32-30, 30-25.The Zias swept Tarleton State, 30-28, 30-25, 30-22, and won in three games against Kingsville, 30-28, 30-27, 30-27.

Goble recorded 138 assists in 10 games during the week, an average of 13.8 assists per game. She also provided Eastern with a team-high 37 digs (3.7 per game), plus 6 total blocks and 1 service ace. She added 4 kills and 0 errors on 19 attacks, for a .211 hitting percentage.

She earned 53 assists in four games against LCU, then recorded 40 assists against Tarleton State and 45 assists versus TAMUK as the Zias swept the TexAnns and the Javelinas. For the season, Goble has earned 553 assists (10.6 per game). She has also achieved 3.1 digs per game, 1.2 kills per game and 0.5 blocks per game.

Last year, she set an ENMU record with 1,536 assists. The Zias play two Lone Star Conference matches on the road this weekend. ENMU will take on Abilene Christian on Friday, Sept. 28, at 6:00 p.m. (MST) in Abilene, Texas. The Zias will play at Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1:00 p.m. (MST).
