GOODWELL, OK – Oklahoma Panhandle State University built a 28-21 halftime lead, and went on to defeat Eastern New Mexico University, 76-68, at the OPSU Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 14. OPSU improved to 6-1 overall and to 2-0 against ENMU. The Aggies also defeated the Greyhounds, 75-70, on Nov. 26 at Greyhound Arena. ENMU fell to 3-4 on the season. The Hounds do not play
again until Monday, Dec. 30, when they will host Lubbock Christian University
at Greyhound Arena at 3 p.m. (MST). ENMU did not score for approximately six minutes at the end of the first half. The Hounds also struggled early in the second half and fell behind by 16 points. Eastern, led primarily by players coming off the bench, rallied to within two points, 57-55, with about 4:30 remaining. The Greyhounds had the ball with a chance to tie or move into the lead, but a three-point shot by Kevin Iverson (Sr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin CC) missed the rim with three seconds left on the shot clock. OPSU took possession and gradually pulled way over the remainder of the game. Royshid McKinney (Jr., F, Denton, TX/Eastfield College) led ENMU with 13 points (three 3-pointers, one 2-pointer, 2 FTs), all in the second half. Iverson provided 12 points and Brent Cooper (Jr., G, Mobile, AL/Faulkner State College) contributed 9 points. Jamaal Hunnicutt (So., F, Amarillo, TX/Hill JC) and Randy Johnson (Sr., G, Italy, TX/McLennan CC) each scored 8 points, while Irshaun Pinckney (So., G, Clovis, NM/Clovis HS) supplied 6 points, all in the second half.
