ENMU to Play at The Pit on Friday, December 6
Greyhounds Will Take on N.M. Highlands

PORTALES, NM – The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team will play New Mexico Highlands University at “The Pit” in Albuquerque, N.M. on Friday, Dec. 6, prior to a home game for the University of New Mexico. The Greyhounds and NMHU will tip-off at 5 p.m. (MST). The UNM Lobos will take on Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne at 7 p.m.

The Greyhounds defeated Highlands, 97-68, at Greyhound Arena in the season opener, but the Cowboys lost by just nine points the next night at the University of Texas at El Paso. A highly-competitive game between ENMU and NMHU is anticipated at “The Pit.”

ENMU, currently 2-2, has been led by preseason LSC South Player-of-the-Year selection Cedric Palmer (Sr., F, Houston, TX/McLennan CC), who has averaged 17.8 points per game. Palmer scored a career-high 28 points in an 83-77 win over Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 29. He has made 58.5% of his shots from the field and has averaged 7.3 rebounds per game. Garland Coleman (Jr., G/F, Flossmoor, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor HS) and Kevin Iverson (Sr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin CC) each have provided 10.0 points per game.

NMHU, 0-3, has lost to ENMU, UTEP and West Texas A&M. The Cowboys are led by sophomore guard Matt Garcia, with 13.7 points per game, and by junior post Jamaal Weaver, with 11.0 points per game.

The ENMU Alumni Office, along with ENMU Athletics, will sponsor an ENMU Alumni Pre-Game Social on Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Sheraton Uptown Hotel in Albuquerque. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. (MST), with ENMU Head Coach Shawn Scanlan scheduled to speak at 7:00 p.m.
