WEATHER FORCES ZIAS AND 8 OTHER TEAMS TO WITHDRAW FROM LEAD-OFF CLASSIC
IRVING, TX – A combination of rain, snow and ice forced the Eastern New Mexico University Zias and eight other softball teams to withdraw from the NCAA Division II Lead-Off Classic on Saturday, May 2, after one day of the three-day event.

The remaining 15 teams from the original 24-team field hoped to conclude the event on Sunday, May 3. ENMU, currently 10-8, was 0-2 in its four-team pool when play was suspended following Friday’s schedule. All games slated for Saturday had already been canceled when the nine teams decided to withdraw from the event and start heading toward their respective campuses.

The Zias are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 6, and Thursday, Mar. 7, in a four-game series against Fort Lewis College at Zia Softball Field. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 12:00 noon (MST). The second double-header starts on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. (MST).
