JEFF DAVIS SIGNS LETTER-OF-INTENT WITH ENMU MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
PORTALES, NM – Jeff Davis, a 6’3” 185 pound guard from John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play men’s basketball with the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico University. Davis is the second high school player, and the fourth player overall, signed by ENMU Head Coach Shawn Scanlan this spring.

Davis averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this past season, and helped lead John Jay to the 2001-02 Class 5A State Championship. He was named First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region as a result of his solid all-around play. He also was chosen as John Jay’s Defensive Player-of-the-Year. Davis shot 80% at the free throw line this past season, while connecting on 47% of his field goal attempts. He converted 41% of his shots from beyond the three-point line.

“Jeff is a gifted athlete with legitimate range on his shot as well as solid all-around offensive skills,” Scanlan said. He was also recognized as his team’s Defensive Player-of-the-Year, which speaks well of his appreciation of the defensive aspects of the game. He will provide us with another solid young player at the guard position.”
