Heath Ridenour Named LSC South Offensive Player-of-the-Week for Second Week in a Row

PORTALES, NM – Eastern New Mexico University senior quarterback Heath Ridenour (Lovington, NM/Lovington HS) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Offensive Player-of-the-Week for the second time in as many weeks. He received the most recent award for his efforts in Eastern’s 70-28 win at New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Ridenour completed 6 of 10 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 10 times for 60 yards, giving him 254 yards of total offense in the game. Ridenour threw touchdown passes of 23 yards to Taryll Boxton (Sr., RB, Albuquerque, NM/Del Norte HS) and 64 yards to Derrick Hunter (Fr., WR, Lamesa, TX/Lamesa HS) during a 28-point second quarter that gave the Hounds a 42-14 halftime lead.

Ridenour was Eastern’s leading rusher, but six other players gained at least 39 yards for the Greyhounds. ENMU totaled 544 yards of offense, including 350 yards on 54 running plays. The Hounds have scored 97 points and gained 990 total yards in their first two games.

So far this season, Ridenour has completed 11 of 21 passes for 263 yards and three TDs. He has not thrown an interception. On the ground, he has achieved 221 yards on 25 carries, an average of 8.8 yards per rush. He has scored one rushing touchdown.

ENMU, now 2-0, has a 30-14 combined record since the start of the 1998 season. Head Coach Harold “Bud” Elliott recorded his 50th win at ENMU in Saturday’s triumph over NMHU. He is 50-36-2 (.580) in nine seasons with the Greyhounds.
