ENMU Men's Basketball Team to Host Banquet
April 24 to Celebrate LSC South Championship
Banquet is Open to the Public; Tickets are on Sale

PORTALES, NM - The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team will host the Greyhound Basketball Banquet on Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m., on the upper level of the ENMU Campus Union Building. Head Coach Shawn Scanlan and the Greyhounds will celebrate their 2002-03 Lone Star Conference South Division championship as well as the team’s 20-8 overall record.

The LSC South championship was the first ever LSC regular season title in the history of the ENMU men’s basketball team. ENMU qualified for the LSC Tournament, and defeated East Central University, 112-79, on Mar. 4, before losing to eventual champion Tarleton State University, 64-58, on Mar. 7. The Greyhounds played both LSC Tournament games at Greyhound Arena.

Scanlan was named LSC South Coach-of-the-Year and senior forward Cedric Palmer (Houston, TX/McLennan CC) was chosen LSC South Player-of-the-Year. Garland Coleman (Jr., G/F, Flossmoor, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor HS) was selected LSC South Defensive Player-of-the-Year.

Palmer earned First Team All-LSC South honors for the second season in a row. Jamaal Hunnicutt (So., F, Amarillo, TX/Hill JC) was chosen Second Team All-LSC South and Kevin Iverson (Sr., G, Chicago, IL/Elgin CC) was named Honorable Mention All-LSC South.
