Berry and Radaelli-Sanchez Qualify for LSC Honor Roll

PORTALES, NM - Eastern New Mexico University sophomore defender Pam Campbell (5'6", Sierra Vista, AZ/Cochise Community College) has been named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Women's Soccer Team, as selected by the LSC sports information directors. A total of 12 players were named to the All-Academic Team.

Each of the All-Academic selections, plus an additional 33 student-athletes, qualified for the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll. ENMU players on the Commissioner's Honor Roll were Campbell, plus sophomore forward Leah Berry (5'6", Belen, NM/Belen HS) and senior midfielder Sarah Radaelli-Sanchez (5'6", Albuquerque, NM/University of New Mexico).

Student-athletes qualified for the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll by earning at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average with 24 or more semester hours at their current college or university. The LSC sports information directors chose the All-Academic Team based upon the academic and athletic success of players on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Campbell was a steady defender, whose efforts made her a team leader for the Zias all season. She was one of two players on the ENMU roster to start all 15 games. She blocked several shots, and often prevented attackers from even taking a shot. She recorded an assist on Eastern's only goal against the University of Northern Colorado in a 5-1 loss on Sept. 14. She previously played one season at Cochise CC in Arizona. Campbell is majoring in Biology with a 3.83 GPA.

Berry played in every game and was a starter in 13 games for the Zias. She recorded one assist and took seven shots. She was most valuable for her work up and down the sidelines, as she played more of a midfield role after the ENMU defense suffered two season-ending injuries. She also saw action as a traditional forward and was a hard worker at both positions. Berry is majoring in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis. She owns a 3.44 GPA.

Radaelli-Sanchez was a reserve player who saw action in 12 games with one start. She earned an assist on one of Eastern's goals in the team's first-ever win, a 4-0 triumph at Wayland Baptist University on Sept. 6. Radaelli-Sanchez is a Graphic Design major with a 3.74 GPA.

ENMU was in its first season of intercollegiate competition this fall. The Zias finished the year with a 3-12 overall record, including a 2-7 mark (9th place) in the LSC. Eastern achieved LSC victories for Head Coach Travis McCorkle against Texas Woman's University (2-1 in overtime on Oct. 3) and against Southwestern Oklahoma (2-1 on Oct. 31).
