Zias Defeat TexAnns, 30-26, 37-35, 30-26

Eastern Reaches .500 Mark at 13-13 (5-2 LSC South)

STEPHENVILLE, TX - Junior middle blocker Emilie Rodman (Gillette, WY/Western Wyoming CC) recorded 13 kills and a .480 hitting percentage, as Eastern New Mexico University claimed a 30-26, 37-35, 30-26 sweep of Tarleton State University, in Lone Star Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Zias improved to 5-2 in the LSC South, while Tarleton State fell to 0-7 in the LSC South.

ENMU, which began the season 5-10, also reached the .500 mark for the first time this year at 13-13. Tarleton State dropped to 8-21 overall.

Rodman was the only Zia with double digit kills against the TexAnns. She had just one kill error on 25 total attacks. Her .480 hitting percentage led all players in the match. Rodman also recorded one block solo and two block assists.

The Zias registered 12.0 team total blocks, with six block solos and 12 block assists. TSU also was solid at the net, with 11.0 team blocks (6 solos, 10 assists).

Anna Bellum (Jr., OH, Albuquerque, NM/Garden City CC) added eight kills and 10 digs for ENMU, while Grace George (Fr., MB, Kaaawa, HI/Kahuka HS) provided the Zias with six kills and five total blocks. Jennifer Luttrell (Fr., MB/RS, Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs HS) recorded five kills, while junior setter Jennifer Bullock (Anaheim, CA/Cypress College) earned 31 assists, six digs, four kills and two block assists. ENMU's libero, Jessica Weeks (Jr., Brownell, KS/Garden City CC), contributed 14 digs.

Tarleton State was led by Crystal White, who recorded 14 kills, 10 digs and two block assists. Lacey Adkisson added 11 kills, seven digs and nine total blocks, while Shana Casteel produced 10 kills and eight digs. Morgan Betty compiled 28 assists, five service aces and six digs.

The Zias are one game behind West Texas A&M University (6-1) and one-half game behind Abilene Christian University (5-1) in the LSC South standings. The LSC South champion will host the LSC Tournament, Nov. 13-15. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the event.

Eastern will conclude a three-game LSC road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at West Texas A&M. Match time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse in Canyon, Texas, is set for 7 p.m. (MDT).
