Lindsey Joins Zia Softball’s Recruiting Class

Portales, NM – Natasha Lindsey, a transfer pitcher from NCAA-II member Tusculum College (TN), is the latest member of the Eastern New Mexico University Zia Softball recruiting class of 2004.

“Tasha gives us one more talented pitcher in the circle,” commented Zia Head Coach Kevin Blaskowski. He added, “She has been very successful throughout her career and hopefully she will bring that success with her. With her addition, I feel we could have as good a pitching staff as there is in the Lone Star Conference next spring.”

Lindsey, a native of Auburn, WA, compiled a 16-10 record and posted a 2.08 ERA as a sophomore at Tusculum. She struck out 95 batters in 158 innings pitched. She set the single season record for wins (16) and was also a 2nd team All-South Atlantic Conference performer.

Lindsey played her freshman season at Shoreline Community College (WA) where she compiled a 1.80 earned run average and was named to the All-Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Second Team. Shoreline finished third in the North Division of the NWAACC and qualified for the conference tournament for the first time since 1998.

In the summer of 2003, Lindsey played ASA travel ball for Team Speed. They competed and finished second at the Futures Tournament at the Canada Cup in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Team Speed also won the highly touted Rising Stars Exposure Tournament in Plantation, Fla.

Lindsey played her high school softball at Thomas Jefferson High School. She finished the 2002 season with a 0.72 ERA, going 15-4 with one save and struck out 109 batters in 127 innings. Thomas Jefferson was the South Puget Sound-South Division League Champions with a league record of 16-0, placing third in the Washington West-Central Districts and fifth at the state tournament.

Lindsey was named 2002 South Puget Sound League South Division Most Valuable Player and to the Federal Way Mirror All-City Team three straight years. She also earned All-South Puget Sound League First Team honors as a junior and second team honors as a sophomore.
