Conrad Hamilton Wins Greyhound Statue

PORTALES, NM — Former Eastern New Mexico University football player Conrad Hamilton, who played in the National Football League for the New York Giants from 1996-99 and for the Atlanta Falcons in 2001, has won a Greyhound statue in the first event of a fund-raising drive by the ENMU football team. Hamilton’s name was selected from all entries received during the fund-raising project.

The pewter statue measures 30 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. It was a logical choice to
include in the football team’s fund-raising plans since the nickname for ENMU’s men’s athletic teams is Greyhounds. Fund-raising efforts by the football team will continue throughout the fall semester, including Eastern’s 2004 football season.

The football team will play an 11-game schedule this fall, with six home games at Greyhound
Stadium. The Hounds open the season at home on Saturday, Aug. 28, when Eastern will take on the University of Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. (MST). ENMU has recorded six consecutive winning seasons since 1998.
