PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University will hold a press conference at Greyhound Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 1:30 p.m. MST for the purpose of announcing the new head football coach following the retirement of Harold “Bud” Elliott at the end of the 2004 season. The press conference will be held on the main court inside Greyhound Arena. All media representatives and the general public are invited to attend.

Elliott achieved a record of 68-49-2 (.580) during his 11 seasons at ENMU. He concluded his 37-year career as a collegiate head coach with an overall record of 205-179-9 (.533). He was named LSC South Coach-of-the-Year four times, in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002.

ENMU has recorded seven consecutive winning seasons, including a 6-5 record in 2004 (4-2 in the LSC South, 3rd place). The Greyhounds earned a winning record nine times during Elliott’s 11 seasons at Eastern.

Marshall Stinnett, president of the ENMU Board of Regents, will be in attendance, along with ENMU Athletic Director Mike Maguire and Coach Elliott. The new coach will be the 14th head coach for Eastern since the first year as a junior college in 1934. ENMU has competed as a four-year college since the 1940 season. The Greyhounds have an all-time record over 68 years of 349-313-21 (.526), including 313-294-16 (.515) in 62 years at the four-year level.
