Averaged 14.7 points and 7.3 boards as Zias went 2-1

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball senior forward Mika Robertson (Levelland, TX/Midland College) has been named Lone Star Conference South Player of the Week, it was announced Sunday, Nov. 20 by the conference office.

Robertson averaged 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the week. The Zias went 2-1 in their opening week of action, defeating two teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season. ENMU downed Fort Lewis College 57-53 on Tuesday, Nov. 16 and the University of Nebraska at Kearney 71-64 on Friday, Nov. 19, before falling to Colorado State University-Pueblo 66-60 on Saturday, Nov. 20.

The senior scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Eastern’s season-opening victory over Fort Lewis, where the Zias overcame a 13-point halftime deficit with the help of an 11-0 run to start the second half. ENMU held FLC to just 21.1 percent shooting in the second half en route to the victory.

Against UNK, Robertson scored just six points, but tallied a career-high 10 boards. She also posted two blocks and two steals in the seven-point victory. The Zias overcame a double-digit lead in that game as well, as ENMU trailed Kearney 38-26 with 1:56 to play in the first half.

In the final game of the week, the forward matched her career- and season-high with 19 points against Pueblo. She also posted four rebounds and four steals while shooting 7-of-9 from the floor. For the week, Robertson shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) overall and 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three-point land.

The Zias head to Joplin, Mo. this weekend for the Missouri Southern State University Classic. On Friday, Nov. 26 they will square off with Pittsburg State University at 4 p.m. MST, and on Saturday, Nov. 27, ENMU will face host MSSU at 2 p.m.
