PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University sophomores Anna Funck (Amarillo, TX/Amarillo HS) and Megan Dozier (Midland, TX/Midland HS) have been honored by the Lone Star Conference, it was announced Monday, Nov. 7 by the conference office. It is the second consecutive year that each player has been named All-LSC.

Dozier led the Zias in scoring for the second consecutive season in 2004, notching 10 goals and eight assists for a total of 28 points. The forward scored the first hat trick in ENMU soccer history on Sept. 3 in a 4-1 victory over Colorado Christian University. She also scored the game-winning goal in a 6-0 victory over the University of Texas at Permian Basin on Sept. 18, and scored four points (one goal, two assists) in a 5-1 victory over St. Gregory’s University on Oct. 2.

Dozier is the leading scorer in the brief history of Zia soccer, with a total of 16 goals and nine assists. In Eastern’s inaugural season in 2003, Dozier scored six goals and one assist for 13 points, and was named to the LSC First Team.

Funck had her second consecutive strong season at the midfield position, scoring 12 points on four goals and four assists, tying her with Karly Parkans (Jr., F, Peoria, AZ/Paradise Valley CC) for second on the team in points. She scored a career-high six points against UTPB on two goals and two assists, and won LSC Player of the Week on Sept. 21 for her performance. The sophomore also scored the game-winner against CCU and put home the game-tying goal in a 2-2 contest with East Central University on Oct. 24.

In 2003, Funck finished second on the team with three goals and six points, and earned Second Team All-LSC honors for her efforts.

Midwestern State University and the University of Central Oklahoma each earned six All-LSC selections to lead the conference, with the Lady Indians seeing four players selected to the First Team. West Texas A&M University’s Sarit Shenar was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Central Oklahoma garnered the other three individual awards. Stephanie Gulisao was named Defensive Player of the Year, Carly Fischer won Freshman of the Year and Mike Cook was the conference’s Coach of the Year.
