Kicks Four Field Goals to Tie School Record in 38-35 Comeback Win

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore place-kicker Lee Price (Holliday, TX/Holliday HS) has been selected as the National Special Team Player-of-the-Week by D2football.com for his efforts in Eastern’s 38-35 win at Angelo State University on Saturday, Oct. 2. Price connected on four field goals to equal the ENMU single game record set by Bob Gilbreath against Angelo State on Oct. 17, 1987. Price previously tied the record in the season opener last year, leading the Greyhounds to an 18-17 win at Adams State.

Price made field goals from 36, 44, 34 and 26 yards at Angelo State. His first two field goals gave the Hounds a 6-0 lead and his last two contributed to Eastern’s rally from a 35-12 deficit with 14:54 remaining in the game to achieve the three-point win. The Greyhounds scored 26 unanswered points to close out the game and improve to 3-3 overall, 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference South Division. His 34-yard field goal with 6:43 left cut the deficit to 35-27.

Price’s final field goal, from 26 yards with 4:12 on the clock, reduced the Rams’ lead to 35-30. Eastern eventually won the game on Steven Hinson’s 31-yard pass to Derrick Hunter with 1:03 left.

Price is the Greyhounds’ second-leading scorer this season with 41 points, on 8 of 11 field goals and 17 of 18 extra points. He has scored 98 points in less than two seasons at ENMU, while converting 18 of 32 field goals and 44 of 47 extra points.
