Price Named LSC South Special Teams
Player-of-the-Week as ENMU Wins Homecoming Game

Hits Two FGs, Averages 39.4 Yards on Five Punts, in 21-20 Victory

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University sophomore place-kicker Lee Price (Holliday, TX/Holliday HS) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Special Teams Player-of-the-Week for his contributions in Eastern’s 21-20 victory over West Texas A&M University in the Homecoming game, Saturday, Oct. 9, at Greyhound Stadium. ENMU improved to 4-3 overall and to 3-0 in the LSC South after rallying from a 17-3 halftime deficit. Price went 2 for 2 on field goals of 30 yards and 26 yards for Eastern’s first six points of the game.

Later, he kicked the extra point on the Greyhounds’ final touchdown for a 21-17 lead. He also averaged 39.4 yards on five punts. His final occurred was with just 10 seconds remaining in the contest and ENMU at its own 16-yard line. He kicked the ball 37 yards, angling it toward the sideline.

The directional kick allowed Corey White (Jr., CB, Lubbock, TX/Estacado HS) to provide coverage on the play and tackle WTAMU returner Jason Jones immediately for no yards. Jones entered the game averaging 18.4 yards per punt return. The Buffaloes threw an incomplete pass on the game’s final play.

Price had a 52-yard punt that was downed at the WTAMU 9-yard line, a 41-yarder with no yards on the return by Jones, and tow more punts downed by the Greyhounds for not return. He also averaged 62.6 yards per kickoff (average to the WTAMU 3) with a net of 51.8 yards on kickoffs (average start for WTAMU at its own 13).

For the season, Price is 10 of 13 on field goals and 18 of 19 on extra points. He is Eastern’s leading scorer with 48 points. In less than two seasons at ENMU, he has converted 20 of 34 field goals and 45 of 48 extra points. He has scored a total of 105 points in 18 games, an average of 5.8 points per game.

The Homecoming game also was the annual Wagon Wheel game between the Greyhounds and the Buffaloes. ENMU leads the Wagon Wheel series, 11-7, and the all-time series, 11-8. The Wagon Wheel game has been played every year since 1986 except 1991, when WTAMU did not play football.
