Greyhounds fall to No. 22 UIW, 1-0
ENMU finishes inaugural season at 6-12-2

Box score

PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team dropped a tight contest to No. 22 University of the Incarnate Word on Sunday, Oct. 31, 1-0. The Greyhounds finish their inaugural season with a record of 6-12-2 and 3-10-1 in the Southwest Soccer Conference.

Lubomir Bogdanov scored the only goal of the game, at 18:56, giving UIW all the offense it would need in the contest. Ohad Ron headed a ball forward to a streaking Bogdanov, who put the ball past Leif Craddock (So., GK, Amarillo, TX/West Texas A&M University) for his 19th goal of the season.

The Hounds got their best scoring opportunity of the game just under ten minutes into the second half. Albert Robinson (Fr., F, Lawton, OK/MacArthur HS) played the ball to the center of the box, where Jonathan Holman (So., F, Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) blasted a shot that went off the post. The rebound came right back to Holman, who put his second shot on net, but goalkeeper Morten Larsen made a diving stop to keep ENMU off the scoreboard.

Holman led Eastern with three shots, while Bogdanov put four shots on net for the Cardinals. UIW outshot Eastern 16-7 in the match, as Craddock made six saves for the home squad.

The Hounds finish the season in seventh place in the SSC, and just three points out of fifth place in the conference. Holman and Robinson tied for the team lead in goals with five, while Craddock started 19 of the 20 games in net, posting a 1.64 goals against average and a .745 save percentage.
