Zias fight to scoreless tie
Vanlandingham registers seven saves in shutout

Box score

WEATHERFORD, OKLA. — The Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team (9-8-2 overall, 2-4-2 Lone Star Conference) earned a crucial point in the LSC race with a 0-0 tie at Southwestern Oklahoma University on Friday, Oct. 29. It was the second consecutive tie for ENMU, which fought to a 2-2 tilt with East Central University on Oct. 24.

Amanda Vanlandingham (Fr., GK, Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) made seven saves for the Zias in the tie, while Lindsey Crook and Kelli Bass split the shutout for SWOSU. Southwestern outshot ENMU 13-12 in the match.

Megan Dozier (So., F, Midland, TX/Midland HS) led ENMU with three shots in the contest, and received the only yellow card of the match, at 74:51. Eastern committed 11 fouls to SWOSU’s 10.

The Zias are now tied with East Central for sixth place in the conference, pending the outcome of the Texas Woman’s University-Texas A&M University-Commerce game on Friday evening. The top six teams from the LSC make the conference tournament. Currently, ENMU holds the tiebreaker with East Central, as it has a more favorable goal differential in conference games.

ENMU has its final contest of the season on Sunday, Oct. 31, when it travels to Central Oklahoma University for a 12 p.m. (MDT) contest. Should the Zias defeat Central Oklahoma University, they would be in the driver’s seat for their first-ever berth in the LSC Tournament, which begins on Nov. 4 at Commerce, Texas.
