Zias Fall to West Texas 3-1
Rosas tallies goal in losing effort

Box score

CANYON, TEXAS — The Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team (7-6-0 overall, 1-2-0 Lone Star Conference) had its two-game winning streak snapped by West Texas A&M University, 3-1. WTAMU moves to 8-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the LSC with the victory.

The Lady Buffaloes got a pair of first-half goals from Sarit Shenar, who increased her conference-leading total to 14 goals on the season. The sophomore was playing in her first game back following a two-match absence while she played for the Israeli National Team.

Shenar scored at 17:17, lofting a ball over goalkeeper Amanda Vanlandingham (Fr., GK, Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) to give the Lady Buffs a 1-0 lead. She scored again just over five minutes later, taking a cross from Katie Henley and depositing it home at 22:40 to give the home squad a 2-0 lead heading into the half.

Aubre Moljhus' first goal of the season gave West Texas a 3-0 lead at the 55:48 mark. She put the ball home off a deflection for an unassisted goal.

Jessica Rosas (Jr., F, Escondido, CA/Cochise CC) headed home her second goal of the season at 83:00. Lauren Standefer (Fr., F, Tularosa, NM/Alamogordo HS) crossed the ball from the left hand side to Rosas, notching her first assist of the year on the play.
Vanlandingham made two saves in playing the first half, while Stephanie Sanchez (Fr., GK, Belen, NM/Belen HS) made four saves in the second half.

The Lady Buffs outshot Eastern 16-5 in the match and committed 10 fouls to ENMU's nine. Mjolhus was given a yellow card for the Lady Buffs at 58:13.

The Zias are in action again on Sunday, when they play host to New Mexico Highlands University. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. (MDT) at the new ENMU Soccer Field, located just across from the facility at which the Zias and Greyhounds have played every game this season. Both teams will play the remainder of their games this season at the new facility.
