Goble Earns LSC South Setter of the Week
Eighth time senior has won the award
Sept. 8, 2004

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University senior setter Margie Goble (San Antonio, Texas/Holmes HS) has been named Lone Star Conference South Setter of the Week for the week of September 7. It is the eighth time that Goble has won the award in her career at Eastern.

Goble notched 165 assists (11.00 per game) as the Zias went 2-2 at the Mesa State Tournament last weekend, tallying 33 or more assists in each of ENMU’s matches. The senior was a medical redshirt in 2003 due to a knee injury suffered before the season.

On Friday, in her first match since 2002, she posted 33 assists along with nine digs and three kills against Colorado School of Mines. Goble followed that up with 39 assists in ENMU’s five-set victory over Colorado State University-Pueblo later that afternoon, making eight kills and 26 digs in the match. The senior then had her peak performance of the weekend on Saturday morning, tallying 57 assists in a four-set contest with host Mesa State University.

The San Antonio native entered this season as ENMU’s all-time assist leader with 4,178 in her career. She also holds the single-season mark with 1,536, and holds three of the top five spots on the single-season record list among Zias.

ENMU plays host to Lubbock Christian University on Friday at 7 p.m. MDT at Greyhound
Arena for its second home contest of the 2004 season.
