Holman Named SSC Offensive Player of the Week
Sophomore Earns Program’s First Weekly Award
Sept. 9, 2004

PORTALES, N.M. — The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team received its first individual hardware on Wednesday, Sept. 8, as sophomore forward Jonathan Holman (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) was named Southwest Soccer Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first two weeks of the SSC season.

The sophomore is leading the Greyhounds with two goals and two assists, and has been a key force up front for ENMU (2-1-1 overall,
0-0 SSC). Holman also leads the Hounds in both shots and shots on goal this season.

In the program’s first-ever win, a 3-1 triumph over Dallas Baptist University, Holman set up Joseph Alvarez’s (Sr., M, Oklahoma City, OK/West Texas A&M University) game-winning goal in the second half. On Sept. 3, Holman notched two goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Colorado Christian University.

Both ENMU soccer teams are in San Antonio, Texas this weekend for matchups with St. Mary’s University and the University of the Incarnate Word. The Greyhounds will return home the following weekend for the program’s first home contest, against St. Edward’s University, on Friday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. on the ENMU soccer field.
