Dozier nets hat trick in victory
ENMU cruises to 4-1 victory over CCU

LAKEWOOD, CO — The Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team (2-1-0) earned its second win of the season on Friday, topping Colorado Christian University by a score of 4-1. Megan Dozier (So., F, Midland, TX/Midland HS) scored three goals in the contest, the first hat trick in the history of ENMU soccer.

Dozier got Eastern on the board first in the contest, scoring an unassisted goal midway through the first half. After CCU tied the score at one, Anna Funck (So., M, Amarillo, TX/Amarillo HS) scored the gamewinner for the Zias late in the first half. Nicole Johnson (Sr., M, Las Vegas, NV/Cochise CC) assisted on Funck’s goal for her first point of the season, and Eastern went into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Then Dozier went back to work in the second half, scoring the final two goals of the game to allow ENMU to win going away. Funck picked up an assist on Dozier’s final goal.

Amanda Vanlandingham (Fr., GK, Hobbs, NM/Hobbs HS) got the start for the Zias in the net, picking up her second win of the season. Vanlandingham (2-1-0) has been awarded the decision in each of Eastern’s three contests this season, despite the fact that Stephanie Sanchez (Fr., GK, Belen, NM/Belen HS) and she have split time in net all season.

ENMU is in action again on Sunday, when it faces CSU-Pueblo. The two teams will face off at 12 p.m. in Pueblo.
