Crain Throws all Nine Innings, as Greyhounds Open Series with 7-2 Win over West Texas A&M
Buffaloes Put Together Five-Run Third Inning for 8-1 Win in Second Game

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University opened its Lone Star Conference series against West Texas A&M University with a 7-2 win on Friday, Apr. 15, after junior pitcher Kelly Crain (RHP, Gordon, TX/Gordon HS) provided a nine-inning, complete-game performance. In the second game, West Texas A&M scored five runs in the third inning, as the Buffaloes defeated Eastern, 8-1. After the double-header, ENMU was one game under .500 at 20-21, including 3-15 in the LSC South. TAMU-Kingsville moved to 28-26 overall, 9-9 in the LSC South.

Crain, who evened his pitching record at 6-6, struck out seven batters and held WTAMU to seven hits. Senior second baseman Bryan Moore (Wolfforth, TX/Howard College) added 3 hits in 3 at bats, scored once and drove in three runs. Moore finished the day 4 for 6, while improving his team-leading batting average to .432.

WTAMU starter Raymond Bergera threw all seven innings in Game #2, as he improved to 4-7 on the season. He struck out four batters and limited the Greyhounds to just five hits. Derrick Kennedy (Fr., DH/3B, San Antonio, TX/G.W. Brackenridge HS) singled to score Josh Kuchta (Sr., SS, Clovis, NM/Clovis HS) with Eastern's only run in the sixth inning. WTAMU turned three double plays on defense.
