Gee Blasts Second Homer of Season; Brown Goes 4 for 5 with Two RBIs

PORTALES, N.M. — Junior catcher Tyler Brown (Aurora, CO/Arapahoe CC) went 4 for 5 with a run and two RBIs, and Bryan Moore (Sr., 2B, Wolfforth, TX/Howard College) went 3 for 6 with two runs and two RBIs, to lead Eastern New Mexico University to a 13-9 win over in-state rival New Mexico Highlands University, Apr. 5 at Greyhound Field. The Greyhounds improved to 16-18 with the win, while NMHU dropped to 20-10.

ENMU trailed 5-0 after the first inning, but eventually tied the score, 8-8, in the sixth. Highlands claimed a 9-8 lead in the top of the seventh, before the Greyhounds plated two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Eastern added three insurance runs in the eighth. Junior right fielder Justin Gee (Clovis, NM/Clovis HS) hit a two-run home run, his second homer of the season, with two outs in the fourth inning.

Kelly Crain (Jr., RHP, Gordon, TX/Gordon HS) pitched the sixth and seventh innings to earn the win. He upped his record to 5-6 on the season. Relief pitcher Kevin Christenson took the loss for NMHU and fell to 1-1 on the season.
