Box Score - Game 2 - ENMU 4, TSU 2

PORTALES, N.M. — Senior second baseman Bryan Moore (Wolfforth, TX/Howard College) hit a single up the middle with a full count and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Justin Gee (Jr., RF, Clovis, NM/Clovis HS) from second base with the winning run, as Eastern New Mexico University defeated Tarleton State University, 4-3, in the first game of a double-header at Greyhound Field on Friday, Apr. 22. Moore hit a solo homer in the second game, as ENMU swept the Lone Star Conference double-header with a 4-2 win.

The Greyhounds improved to 24-22 on the season and moved above .500 for the first time since ENMU was 5-4 on Feb. 25. Eastern also moved to 8-6 in the LSC South, tied for second place in the division with Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. Tarleton State dropped to 21-29 overall, including 5-9 in the LSC South.

Senior pitcher Trevor Davis (RHP, Evergreen, CO/Evergreen HS) picked up a win and a save in relief appearances during the double-header. He entered the first game with a runner at first and no outs in the top of the ninth inning. He gave up a double to Paul Muse, then recorded three consecutive outs to end the stanza. ENMU broke a 3-3 tie when Gee scored in the bottom of the inning, allowing Davis to improve to 10-4 on the year, as he extended his ENMU record for victories in one season. He also tied the ENMU record for career victories (19, previously set by Geoff Erwin, 1994-96).

In the second game, Davis came in with two runs already scored, two runners on the base paths and two outs in the sixth inning. A fielding error loaded the bases before James Fogle flied out to end the ending. The Greyhounds, who entered the game with six straight errorless contests, committed another error with one out in the seventh, but Davis struck out Roland Robles and got John Broussard to fly out to end the game.

The Greyhounds and the Texans will conclude their LSC South series with another double-header at Greyhound Field on Saturday, Apr. 23. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. MDT. There will be a tailgate with free food starting at 11 a.m.
