PORTALES, N.M. — Senior pitcher Trevor Davis (Evergreen, CO/Evergreen HS) set an Eastern New Mexico University record with his 20th career victory, as he threw all seven innings of a 3-2 win over Tarleton State University, in the final game of a four-game Lone Star Conference series, Saturday, Apr. 23 at Greyhound Field. ENMU split the double-header after TSU triumphed in the first game, 4-3. Eastern won the series three games to one, including 4-3 and 4-2 victories on Friday, Apr. 22.

Eastern improved to 25-23 overall, 9-7 in the LSC South, as the Greyhounds moved above the .500 mark for the first time since Feb. 25. Tarleton State fell to 22-30 overall, 6-10 in the LSC South.

Davis (11-4) extended his ENMU record for single season wins. He upped his career mark to 20-19, while breaking the old ENMU record (19), set by Geoff Erwin from 1994-96. Davis struck out two batters and scattered 10 hits, while allowing one walk and two runs.

In Davis' win, Eastern trailed 1-0 after 1 1/2 innings, but Justin Gee (Jr., RF, Clovis, NM/Clovis HS) drove in two runs with a double in the bottom of the second inning, then brought home another run with a single in the fourth. Bryan Moore (Sr., 2B, Wolfforth, TX/Howard College), who picked up a hit in his final at bat in the first game, singled in the third inning of the nightcap to extend his hitting streak to an ENMU record 20 games.

TSU relief pitcher Tim Wallis (2-2) threw the final 2 1/3 innings to win the opener. Moore and Josh Kuchta (Sr., SS, Clovis, NM/Clovis HS) scored in the bottom of the seventh to tied the game, 3-3, but the Texans earned the winning run when Brandon McGuire singled and later scored on a error in the eighth inning. Moore singled to start the bottom of the ninth, but Kuchta struck out and Wallis forced Brett Scherer (Sr., 3B/P, Ingram, TX/Midland College) into a game-ending double play.
