Dylan Bailey Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Men's Cross Country Team

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University head cross country coach Joel McMullen has announced the signing of Dylan Bailey of Portales, N.M., to a National Letter-of- Intent to run for the Greyhounds next season. Bailey will be a sophomore during the 2005-06 academic year. He is the son of Donna Canham.

Bailey graduated from Kentwood High School in Covington, Wash., in 2003. He competed as a collegiate runner at Highline Community College in Des Moines, Wash., during the 2003-04 academic year. He won the NWAACC cross country championship with a time of 25:16 over the 5-kilometer course. He is the former teammate of current ENMU cross country standout Patrick McGuire (Jr., Tacoma, WA/Highline CC).

McMullen and his assistant coach, Matthew Gordillo, have recruited to rebuild and add depth to both the men’s and women’s cross country teams for the upcoming season. While seeking the best student-athletes possible, most of their recruiting has been in New Mexico. Bailey’s athletic talents, however, could not be ignored. The ENMU men’s cross country squad finished fifth in the Lone Star Conference and 13th in the NCAA South Central Regional in 2004.

“We are extremely happy to have Dylan join the Greyhounds,” McMullen commented. “His experience and attitude will serve us well this upcoming season. Dylan is going to help make this program extremely competitive."
