Megan Willis Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Women's Cross Country Team

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University head cross country coach Joel McMullen has announced the signing of Clovis High School senior Megan Willis to a National Letter-of-Intent to run for the Zias next season. Willis will be a freshman during the 2005-06 academic year. Willis is the daughter of Lena and Joseph Willis.

McMullen and his assistant coach, Matthew Gordillo, have recruited to rebuild and add depth to both the men’s and women’s cross country teams for the upcoming season, focusing primarily on the tremendous amount of talented runners throughout New Mexico. The Zia cross country squad finished ninth in the Lone Star Conference in 2004.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Megan joining the Zia squad next fall,” McMullen said. “She was one of Clovis High’s very best runners during her high school career and is very involved in many different activities at school.

“Megan was recruited by several schools, and we feel that we accomplished something really special by having her sign with Eastern,” McMullen commented. “She is going to make great contributions to this team and to ENMU as a whole.”
